MTV Movie Awards Voting Opens
Let the popularity contest begin
For those people who are serious about movies, they may want to give this one a wide berth; the MTV movie awards have been celebrating all that is inane in the movies for years now and by the look of this year's nominees nothing is going to change any time soon.
The Movies up for the MTV's movie of the year are The Avengers, The Dark Knight Rises, Django Unchained, Silver Linings Playbook and Ted. MTV have elected to ignore some of the more critically acclaimed films of the year such as Argo and Zero Dark Thirty and have instead opted for movies that scored big at the box office - expect one of The Avengers, The Dark Knight Rises or Ted to win through.
Amusingly, Daniel Day Lewis has been nominated in the Best Actor category, if the impossible happens and he ends up winning through there is no way on Earth you will see him at the MTV movie awards collecting his popcorn trophy, he's far too serious for that. Don't be surprised if someone like Channing Tatum wins the award for his performance in Magic Mike.
The nominees in the female category are Jennifer Lawrence, Mila Kunis, Anne Hathaway, Rebel Wilson and that one from Harry Potter, for once the MTV movie awards might actually agree with the Oscars and every other awards ceremony out there and give this award to the universally popular Jennifer Lawrence.

MTV will also take time out during the ceremony to pay tribute to Will Ferrell and give him the 'comedic genius' award which will pay homage to his long comedic career.
MTV's usual mix of 'different' awards are there; you'll be able to vote for the 'Best wtf moment', 'Best Kiss' and 'Best on-screen duo' amongst others. There's also the 'Best Shirtless performance' award if you're interested, an award that will surely be won by Channing Tatum for Magic Mike, whether or not he'll be too embarrassed to put that award on his mantelpiece remains to be seen.
You'll be able to witness the madness yourself on the 14th of April when the awards are given out.
